Thank you for taking the time and share with us a little bit about yourself and your journey. Who is Dr. Rachel Crowley and what are you about in the world?

I’m Dr. Rachel Crowley. I specialize in hormonal health and I help professionals and entrepreneurs create energy and mental sharpness they need to reach their full potential in business and in life by solving the mysteries of brain fog, weight gain, and fatigue. My mission is to help others live a healthy and vibrant life by transforming and reclaiming their health because we all deserve to thrive and live life to the fullest and live a life that we love. My why behind my missions is that I have had my own health challenges like everyone else. I want to empower others with the knowledge and tools needed to put health back into your own hands and break free from the burdens of health challenges that are keeping you from living life to the fullest.

What lead and inspired you to become a naturopathic medical doctor and help people with hormonal imbalances?

Growing up, I was healthy. I was energetic, active, and enjoyed many hobbies. I was living a happy and vibrant life and living my life to the fullest. Then, my academic career began from college to medical school and everything in between. It was a hard journey, throughout the years of continual studying, it took a toll on my body and my health deteriorated rapidly and I battled many different health conditions and symptoms ranging from crushing exhaustion and fatigue, weight gain, headaches, and ultimately leading to hormonal imbalances. Knowing what I went through, I am passionate about helping people gain their confidence back and feel good again.
My health journey inspired me to extend my hand to help people in need.

Why do you think that hormones play a big role in how we feel in our day-to-day life and what is a common misunderstanding you notice?

Hormones play a big role in how we feel in our day-to-day life because many health conditions and symptoms you might be experiencing are closely linked to your hormones. A common misunderstanding that I notice is that people believe that they are stuck with their health challenges and it becomes their new norm. For instance, the crushing exhaustion, fatigue, brain fog, weight challenges: they deal with this day in and day out, they learn to live with it for so long that they forget what it feels like to be healthy. However, there is hope. The power of the holistic and integrative approach of naturopathic medicine looks at the root cause of health conditions and offers a variety of treatment options to bring your health back.

Why do you think people are not making their health a priority?

As professionals, entrepreneurs, and business owners, they neglect taking care of themselves and put their health on the backburner. They put all of their energy, focus, and time into the businesses and on their families and they fail to take care of themselves. By pushing themselves through the fatigue, through the exhaustion, they are burning themselves out. Then, they try to reach out for information and answers; however, they get lost in the overload and overwhelm of information out there and they do not have the time and energy to research or compare conflicting opinions and decide which is reliable. It can be difficult to have clarity around health. Instead of getting overloaded and overwhelmed, having a guide will help cut through all of the information and tailor a customizable solution to your health challenges, health goals, and insert seamlessly into your lifestyle. Working with my clients’ day in and day out, I am able to be their guide and provide solutions to their health challenges by customizing personalized protocols and without the overwhelm. I am able to be their guide, coach, accountability partner, and cheerleader as we are on the journey to achieving health. The journey to health begins with the first step and I am here for you as we embark on this journey.

What is the most important lesson that you have learned about health and hormonal balancing in your own health journey?

One of the most important lessons that I have learned from my own health journey is the impact and power that hormones have on your body and how it has such a strong effect on how you feel. Hormones, as a whole, play significant role in many aspects of our health such as mental focus, cognition, blood sugar regulation, metabolism, just to name a few. Hormones are all interconnected. Hormones have a symbiotic relationship meaning that when one hormone is out of balance it causes a domino effect and causes imbalances in other hormones. The building blocks to start the journey of rebalancing your hormones begins with understanding your current hormone levels and able to track it through the journey to see the progress.

As health and hormones are such an interconnected and complex subject, how do you work with your clients?

I work with my clients online across the US and internationally. As health is a journey, I guide clients through the roadmap to health in three phases – discover, optimize, and thrive.

DISCOVER: the foundation and building blocks to achieve optimal health. The discover phase includes a comprehensive health assessment, advanced diagnostic testing, and a comprehensive virtual consultation to identify and discover the root cause of your health challenges and to understand your current health picture and your health and wellness goals.

OPTIMIZE: the core to pivot and upgrade your health and vitality. The optimize phase includes a personalized health plan and tracking your progress. We develop a customized and comprehensive protocol personalized to you, your needs, your goals, and your lifestyle. We utilize a holistic and integrative approach to support your body as a whole since the majority of health challenges are multi-faceted and cannot be looked at piece by piece. We work closely together to monitor your health conditions and your progress.

THRIVE: the accumulation and success of sustaining a full, long, and vibrant life. The thrive phase includes maintaining the success from your health goals for life and empowering you to enhance your health success and providing you with the knowledge and tools to thrive and live life to the fullest.

Who has been your most influential mentor, and why?

My most influential mentor and inspiration has been my mom. She is strong and has always taught me that I can do anything that I set my mind to. She has always supported me 1000% in all my endeavors. She is there to support me, guide me, motivate me, and be there for me to achieve my dreams and goals. In fact, her support and her believe in me actually translates to how I support, guide, and believe in my clients as well. I want to be that strong anchor and guide people on their health journeys. I see so many people are broken, frustrated, and live with their health challenges as the norm. I have been there myself. I understand how hard it can be and even more so without a support. That is why I want to be that strong support for others so that they can get the answers and solutions we all deserve so we can finally feel like ourselves again and live the life we were meant to live without health challenges holding us back.

My passion for dance. Growing up, I had many hobbies from dance, gymnastics, karate, ice skating, horseback riding, rock climbing, swimming, tennis, golf, to playing the piano. Out of all my hobbies, I especially loved dance. I started dancing at the age of three. I was classically trained in ballet, jazz, and lyrical and then trained and professionally competed in ballroom dancing. I love to dance because dancing gives me freedom and allows me to express myself.

What is some advice that you could give to someone trying to have more energy in their day-to-day life?

Many people deal with low energy, crushing exhaustion, and burnout. There could be a number of reasons why people are experiencing these health challenges. The first step would be to figure out what your current health picture is so we are able to assess the root cause behind those challenges. For many people, stress is a large contributing factor to health challenges and can lead to hormonal imbalances.
The type of stress that we are most used to is the emotional type stress – the stress and overwhelm of a busy day, all of the different fires you need to put out on a daily basis, and just the stress of a busy and fast-paced life. Additionally, there are other stressors that can impact the body including bio-toxins, environmental toxins, and the types of foods we eat. These all contribute to stress that taxes and takes a toll on the body which can contribute to many different health challenges. Here are a few ways to decrease the stress on our bodies and increase our energy throughout the day.

Optimize Nutrition. Optimizing nutrition is a key factor in supporting the body. By having a balanced, nutrient-rich regime it is one less stress burden on the body. Hydration is important. If you are drinking coffee regularly just to stay awake and function throughout the day, the caffeine is dehydrating so it is important to hydrate with water.

Optimize Nutrients. Nutrients is another key factor in supporting the body. Stress causes micronutrient depletions in our body. Micronutrients are the vitamins and minerals that are essential to the function of our bodies. Stress robs this; however, by supplementing and optimizing nutrients, it is another one less stress burden on the body.

Managing Stress Levels. As busy professionals, entrepreneurs, and business owners it is tough to put focus on ourselves when we put all of or energy, focus, and time into our businesses and our families. However, by making your health a priority and adding in a few self-care routines and techniques throughout the week, it can help lower stress levels that bombards and taxes our bodies and we can be more resilient to tackle the stress in our lives.
These are just a few ways that can help to increase energy and decrease stress in our day-to-day life.
